Foundy Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

Privacy Policy

In short: the Foundy app collects only what's needed to match lost items with found ones, we never sell your data, and identifying details of items stay hidden until a claim is verified. Website analytics run only if you allow them. We process personal data in accordance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL).

1. What we collect

Account details (name, phone or email), reports you post (photos, descriptions, approximate location and time), claim-verification answers, and in-app messages. Location is used only to surface posts within your area range. Your precise location is never shown to other users.

2. How we use it

To run AI matching between lost and found reports, verify ownership, arrange handovers, prevent fraud, and notify you of likely matches. Foundy Spaces partners (hotels, gyms, hospitals, malls) see only the reports logged at their venue.

3. Legal basis & UAE law

We process personal data under the UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) on the basis of your consent and the performance of our service to you. Where applicable, we also comply with sector rules of UAE free zones (such as the DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021) for venues operating there. Found property may additionally be subject to UAE Civil Code provisions on lost property; where an item is required to be handed to the authorities (e.g. Dubai Police Lost & Found), we will direct you to do so.

4. Your rights

Under the PDPL you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent, and object to processing. Deleting your account removes your reports, claims and messages. Contact hi@foundy.ae. We respond within 30 days.

5. Storage & sharing

Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure; any transfer outside the UAE happens only to jurisdictions with adequate protection or under safeguards permitted by the PDPL. We share data only with your consent, with the matched party after verification (contact reveal), with Spaces partners for items at their venue, with service providers that process it on our behalf (such as our cloud host, Resend for email delivery and, if you allow it, Google Analytics), or where required by UAE law or a competent authority.

6. Website analytics

If you allow it, foundy.ae uses Google Analytics to see how people find and use the site. This includes which pages they open, whether they scroll to the end of a page, which links to other sites they click, and whether they start filling in or send the waitlist or contact form. To tell a returning visitor from a new one, Google Analytics sets cookies that give your browser a random ID. These cookies expire two years after your last visit. Google receives your IP address and technical details such as your browser and device. It uses the IP address to work out your approximate location and does not store it. We do not send your name, email address or messages to Google Analytics. Google may process analytics data outside the UAE. Google Analytics keeps data linked to your browser's ID for 14 months after your last visit, then deletes it. Analytics stays off until you select "Allow", and you can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page.

7. Waitlist and contact form

If you join the waitlist, we store your name, email address and IP address on our web server, along with the page and time of your sign-up. We use these details only to send your confirmation email, tell you when Foundy launches and spot fake sign-ups. If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are emailed to hi@foundy.ae and are not stored on the website. Emails from both forms go through Resend, an email delivery service that may process them outside the UAE. We also use your IP address to limit how many times each form can be sent in an hour. To be removed from the waitlist, write to hi@foundy.ae.

Terms of Service

1. The service

Foundy is a platform that connects people who lost items with people who found them, using AI matching and ownership verification. Foundy is not a courier, custodian or insurer of items and does not guarantee recovery.

2. Your responsibilities

Post truthfully, claim only items that are genuinely yours, and complete handovers honestly. False claims, misappropriation of found property, or keeping property you know belongs to another may constitute an offence under UAE law, including the UAE Penal Code (Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021); we cooperate with UAE authorities on such matters.

3. Found property & authorities

UAE law may require certain found items (e.g. official documents, bank cards, significant valuables) to be handed to the police. Foundy will prompt finders to deliver such items to the competent authority (such as Dubai Police Lost & Found) and helps document that handover; using Foundy does not replace any legal obligation to report found property.

4. Spaces (business) accounts

Venues using Foundy Spaces remain responsible for their own legal obligations regarding guest property, record-keeping and retention periods under applicable UAE federal and emirate-level regulations.

5. Liability & governing law

Foundy provides the platform "as is" and, to the extent permitted by law, is not liable for the condition, authenticity or return of items exchanged between users. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UAE courts.
